Risk & Compliance Manager
12-Month Fixed Term Contract
Australian Military Bank is seeking an experienced Risk & Compliance Manager to lead and strengthen the Bank’s end-to-end Risk and Compliance function during a key period of regulatory and framework uplift. This is a highly visible role with exposure to Executive and Board-level reporting, offering the opportunity to balance steady BAU oversight with meaningful regulatory and framework initiatives.
The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Senior Manager Risk & Compliance, you will take ownership of the ongoing enhancement and delivery of the Bank’s Risk Management and Compliance Frameworks. You will ensure risk and compliance practices are applied consistently across the organisation, provide regulatory advice to leadership, and oversee the quality and timeliness of risk reporting.
Alongside BAU oversight, you will play a key role in several focused initiatives, including:
- Consolidation and uplift of the internal controls framework (including testing methodology)
- CPS230-related implementation activities
- Third-party due diligence framework review and uplift
- Support across AML reform initiatives
- Exposure to an emerging AI automation project within the function
Many of these initiatives will transition into BAU over time, providing ongoing ownership and continuity.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality monthly Enterprise Risk & Compliance reporting
- Enhance and maintain Risk & Compliance Frameworks, policies and procedures
- Support the development and monitoring of risk appetite statements and KRIs
- Ensure appropriate internal controls are in place across material risk areas
- Monitor audit actions and remediation activities
- Provide regulatory advice in line with APRA, ASIC and broader legislative obligations
- Provide leadership, guidance and development to team members
- Maintain governance documentation within the Bank’s GRC systems
About You
- Strong and demonstrable experience in risk and compliance within an ADI
- Experienced at developing and uplifting risk and compliance frameworks
- Strong understanding of APRA and ASIC regulatory environments (including AML/CTF)
- Experience with internal controls and testing methodologies
- The ability to operate autonomously while managing both BAU and project priorities
- Confidence engaging senior stakeholders and presenting at Executive level
- Experience within the mutual banking sector is highly regarded.
