As a member-owned financial institution, we are all about putting members first and helping them to achieve their financial goals. We offer mortgage, consumer and credit loan facilities as well as products and services within superannuation, everyday transactions, savings, term deposits and insurance.

Your Role:

Reporting into the Chief People & Operations Officer, the Head of People Operations joins a small People & Culture team of 5 and is responsible for:

  • Leading the People & Culture function day‑to‑day, shaping a positive, values‑led employee experience aligned to a member‑owned mutual bank.
  • Coaching, developing and building on the performance of an existing and stable P&C team - identifying opportunities to drive efficiencies, improvements and innovation alongside the motivated team
  • Partnering closely with the leadership group, coaching leaders and providing practical, values‑based advice on performance, culture, change, and workforce challenges.
  • Translating people strategy into meaningful, operational outcomes - overseeing hiring, onboarding and total remuneration (including benefits)
  • Working closely with the HR Operations Manager to oversee the remuneration framework and annual review cycle, ensuring decisions are fair, transparent, and support retention in a regulated environment.
  • Ensuring people practices meet employment law and regulatory requirements, balancing risk management with a human‑centred, common‑sense approach.
  • Delivering people analytics and insights that inform leaders, strengthen culture, and support better outcomes for employees and the business.
  • Initial project: we are currently in the final stages of selection of an HRIS. You will join to support the team through the implementation and embedding of the tool across the company - early enough to influence the configuration and roll out stages.

About You

To be successful in the role you will demonstrate:

  • A senior, values‑led People & Culture professional with strong generalist experience
  • Proven experience as a leader - ideally leading and developing a small, multi‑disciplinary P&C team, fostering capability, accountability and collaboration.
  • The ability to be highly effective at partnering with senior leaders - able to influence, coach and advise on complex people, performance and change matters.
  • Brings solid knowledge of employment law and HR compliance, ideally gained in or alongside a regulated environment.
  • Experience in remuneration frameworks and annual salary review cycles
  • A commercial mind, with experience in workforce planning, headcount management and balancing employee experience with business needs.
  • Data‑literacy and insight‑driven instincts, able to translate people metrics into clear recommendations that support better decisions.
  • Strong communication skills - able to produce clear, professional advice, draft new or review existing policies and executive‑level reporting with impact
  • Curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset - we're early in our AI journey and need people excited to explore and able to learn quickly
