About Diving Australia

Diving Australia (DA) is the national sporting organisation for the Olympic sports of springboard and platform diving and the newly popular sport of high diving.

DA has a strong track record of high-performance success, winning a significant number of Olympic, World Championship, Commonwealth, and other international medals. Off the back of our most successful ‘away’ Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022, DA is now looking to build momentum toward major international competitions as we enter the ‘green and gold’ decade which includes the 2026 Victorian Commonwealth Games and the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games.

As a result, we are currently looking to recruit a ‘General Manager (GM) Performance Pathways’.

DA has a truly national program with strong State Institute support in five major centres, based at world-class aquatics facilities, with world class coaching and medical support systems. We strive to be the world’s leading diving nation.

About the role

As the General Manager (GM) Performance Pathways, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of Diving Australia’s performance pathway strategy to support the identification and development of talented athletes across Australian Diving HP system.

Your core duties will include:

  • Develop and maintain a valid and reliable profiling tool for selecting and progressing athletes.
  • Lead and monitor the development of Individual Athlete Performance Plans for Emerging, Developing and Podium Potential athletes.
  • Provide strategic input, oversight and operational support of progressive training and competition experiences to athletes to maximise performance gains.
  • Lead and facilitate closer links and alignment of underpinning talent programs (state, club, or school).
  • Manage the development of holistic athlete education programs that are suitable for underpinning, Emerging, Developing and Podium Potential athletes.

This is a fixed term full-time role offering a competitive package. The contract period is until 31 December 2024.

About you

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the capacity to influence behaviour.
  • Experience in strategy development and execution, preferably in the sporting environment.
  • Proven experience in identifying and confirming talent within a sports environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of athlete and coach development methodologies within the high-performance landscape.
  • Understanding of high-performance sport and the demands and challenges for the performance workforce.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Sports Management, Coaching, Sport Science, or related fields.
