We are currently seeking a Mine Supervisor to join our team. This is a full time permanent role at our Atlantic Operations Touquoy mine in Middle Musquodoboit. This opportunity is offered on a 4 days on, 4 days off schedule working 12 hour rotational shifts. Reporting to the Mine Operations Superintendent, the incumbent is responsible for managing the daily activities of the Mine Operations crew ensuring safety, efficiency and quality of work in all areas of Mine Operation. The Mine Supervisor is also responsible for the safety, performance and growth of all members of their crew.

The Opportunity:

  • Leading safe work practices by promoting a safe work culture and ensuring compliance with all site safety regulations.
  • Apply all applicable regulations, codes and corporate/site standard operating procedures.
  • Identify safety issues and potential hazards, assist with development and implementation of corrective actions and controls.
  • Conduct daily toolbox meetings, field inspections, audits and interactions with your team.
  • Assign daily tasks to Mine Operators based on the weekly plan and production schedule, adjust plan as required to consider daily impacts such as employee shortage, equipment shortage, weather conditions etc.
  • Communicate with contractors working within the mine, ensure safe work and address any concerns regarding overlap of work areas. 
  • Respond to issues or concerns within your team, give feedback or escalate if required.
  • Ensure that only authorized and adequately trained workers operate tools and equipment.
  • Assist Mine Operators in troubleshooting operational and mechanical issues.
  • Interface with Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, Mill Operations Supervisor, Grade Control Geologists and Engineering as required to ensure mining and throughput targets are reached in a responsible and safe manner.
  • Ensure that all ore blocks are being mined efficiently with minimal dilution.
  • Prepare shift reports and time sheets.  
  • Work with the maintenance team to achieve efficient equipment performance and reliability.
  • Champion continuous improvement, implement applicable best practices and encourage Mine Operators to strive for excellence in their job performance.
  • Follow notification escalation protocol in downtime events and incident reporting.
  • Communicate production plans, deadlines and KPIs to all operators.
  • Take ownership of the weekly plan and set tasks based on the plan.
  • Conduct Cross-Shift handover meetings before leaving worksite.
  • Contribute to the development of an effective team.
  • Coach and assist team members in use of time tracking system as required.
  • Complete performance reviews with everyone on your crew as required. Offer coaching and feedback.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • At least 3 years relevant mining operations experience.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
