We are currently seeking an Exploration Geologist to join our team. This is a Full Time Permanent position with our Atlantic Operations based in Bedford, Nova Scotia. Reporting to the Exploration Superintendent, your role is to participate in expanding exploration activities and work collaboratively with other team members to progress the evaluation of the many exploration targets and resources under development by St Barbara Atlantic Operations throughout Nova Scotia.

The Opportunity:

  • Ensuring own Health and Safety as well as that of all other workers, identifying and maintaining safe work practices and completing all required safety training.
  • Contributing to practice HSE excellence through frequent Visual Leadership Observations and attending and taking an active role in pre-start meetings.
  • Safely executing exploration programs on the Company's tenements in consultation with the Manager Exploration - Canada.
  • Collecting, collating, interpreting and accurately presenting geological date from field exploration programs including IFRC and RC chip logging, diamond core logging, geological maps, cross sections, three dimensional models and technical reports.
  • Assisting with the design and execution of exploration projects.
  • Assisting in the timely reporting of exploration results through the preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Managing effective use of available resources, including own time, in support of the development and delivery of Exploration plans.
  • Maintaining good relations with the communities within which we work.
  • Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements; and taking appropriate professional development actions.
  • Fostering positive relationships with contractors and exploration team members.
  • All other duties as may be assigned.

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • A personal commitment to behavior consistent with St Barbara's Values including honesty and integrity, respect, working together, delivering to promise and striving to do better.
  • Bachelor of Science in Geology or a related field of studies.
  • At least three years of relevant mineral exploration experience preferable in orogenic gold environments.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
  • Experience with QGIS or equivalent geographic information system.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite especially Excel.
  • Registration with or eligible to register with Geoscientists Nova Scotia as a Professional Geoscientist.
  • Experience with Leapfrog or equivalent 3D modelling software is preferred.
  • Exploration experience in the Nova Scotia Meguma Terrane.
  • Class 5 Drivers License.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
