Project Superintendent

Atlantic Operations is a wholly owned subsidiary of St Barbara Limited, an ASX listed gold producer and explorer with mining assets in Canada and Australia.

We are currently seeking a Project Superintendent to support the engineering and development of the 15-Mile, Beaver Dam and Cochrane Hill projects in Nova Scotia. This role is a full time, permanent position, reporting to General Manager, Projects. This role will be based out of the regional office located in Halifax. 

 

The Opportunity:

  • Champion excellence and leadership in creating a positive safety culture and actively participate in supporting the Company’s objectives, policies, procedures, safe work practices, and relevant Acts and Regulations.
  • Working in a fast paced, dynamic industry, contributing to the design and advancement of the next gold mining projects in Nova Scotia. This role offers the opportunity to have a direct impact on project outcomes while growing professionally alongside a company focused on responsible development, innovation, and long-term value creation.
  • Coordinating engineering team and external consultants in the execution of project studies and fieldwork, ranging from Preliminary Economic Assessments through Detailed Engineering and trade off studies.
  • Participating in project risk and opportunity identification, supporting strong project control practices through understanding the social and financial impacts of project changes.
  • Planning long term project activities months to years in advance to align engineering designs with permitting timelines and overall project development, including developing appropriate scopes of work.
  • Coordinating multiple projects concurrently in a timely and effective manner to ensure cost, schedule, and delivery objectives are met.
  • Integrating engineering, environmental, and permitting disciplines to support scoping, budgeting, and risk identification for robust business cases, design aspects and permitting applications.
  • Presenting and participating in information sessions with Regulators, Community members and external stakeholders.

 

Our successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Current Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mining or metallurgical engineering or a related and relevant discipline
  • 5-10 years of direct or related experience
  • Experience in a similar role and operational experience.
  • Experience with either NI43-101 and/or JORC technical reporting standards
