Heavy Equipment Technician

Atlantic Operations is a wholly owned subsidiary of St Barbara Limited, an ASX listed gold producer and explorer with mining assets in Canada and Australia.

We are currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician to support our Atlantic Operations. This role is a full time, max-term position, reporting to the Mill Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor and will be based at our Touquoy mine site located approximately 1-hour northeast of Halifax, near Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia.

 

The Opportunity:

  • Ensuring own Health & Safety as well as that of all other workers, identifying and maintaining safe work practices and completing all required safety training.
  • Assisting to prevent breakdowns by checking, cleaning and oiling machine parts regularly.
  • Coordinating tests and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's specifications.
  • Checking heavy equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
  • Providing adjustments to equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
  • Apply all applicable regulations, codes and corporate/site standards to all maintenance activities.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace defective parts, components or systems.
  • Maintain and analyse predictive maintenance data.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Our successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Unencumbered Class 5 driver's license.
  • Red Seal or Journeymen Status in Heavy Equipment Repair.
  • Prepared to address complex problems and solutions within a team setting.
  • Proficient in utilizing computers, including automated maintenance programs and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using CAT SIS and ET.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and engineering specifications.
