We seek an professional to fill the role of Field Geologist.

This fixed term position is based at our Bedford office and Exploration sites.

Our Field Geologist will join a dedicated Exploration team. Reporting to the Exploration Superintendent, your role will participate in expanding exploration activities and work collaboratively with other team members to progress the evaluation of the many exploration targets and resources under development by Atlantic Gold Operations throughout Nova Scotia.  

The Opportunity

  •  Safely executing exploration programs on the Company’s tenements in consultation with the Manager Exploration – Canada.
  • Attending daily toolbox talks and ensuring compliance with contractors.
  • Monitoring the drilling contractors and ensuring compliance with company EH&S standards.
  •  Ensuring highest quality of sampling procedures are followed on all projects.
  • Carrying out field mapping and outcrop/till/soil sampling programs.
  • Carrying out XRF data acquisition programs.
  • Logging of diamond drill core and RC chips.
  • Geotechnical work on diamond drill programs (Spinning core, RQD, Meter marking, photos).
  • Assisting with report writing (External and internal).

Our successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Current unencumbered Class 5 Driver’s License.
  •  Bachelor of Science in Geology or a related field of studies.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and night shifts.
  • Experience with QGIS or equivalent geographic information system.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Registration with or eligible to register with Geoscientists Nova Scotia as a Professional Geoscientist.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience with Leapfrog or equivalent 3D modelling software considered an asset.
  • Exploration experience in the Nova Scotia Meguma Terrane considered an asset.
