Projects Officer
Atlantic Operations is a wholly owned subsidiary of St Barbara Limited, an ASX listed gold producer and explorer with mining assets in Canada and Australia. We are currently seeking a Projects Officer to support the progress of future and current projects through engineering and permitting to ensure timely delivery of the project. The primary focus is on future expansion projects (15-Mile, Old Austen, and Old Mitchell) and any additional projects that may form part of these future expansions. This role is a full time, permanent position, reporting to Projects Superintendent. This role will be based out of the regional office located in Dartmouth.
The Opportunity:
- Supporting the execution, coordination and creation of project studies and field work, ranging from Preliminary Economic Assessments to Detailed Engineering and various Trade off studies.
- Maintaining the 15MMR Projects Plan along with scheduling, cost controls and document controls.
- Integrating engineering, environmental, and permitting disciplines to support scoping, budgeting, and risk identification for robust business cases, design aspects and permitting applications.
- Promoting strong project control practices and understanding the impact of change on the financial outcome of project while applying appropriate controls throughout the lifecycle of all projects.
- Participating in project risk and opportunity identification, assessment, and communication to avoid adverse impacts on the project or the company.
- Coordinating multiple projects in a timely and effective manner to ensure cost effective delivery of each.
- Maintaining a project with appropriate dashboards and databases which allow milestone timing, decision points and costs to be reported and forecast and critical risks to be identified and communicated.
- Coordinating resources and consultants for the effective delivery of projects.
- Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements and taking appropriate professional development actions.
Our successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Geology, Mining, Metallurgical or related and relevant discipline.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and critically think.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Written and oral communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and report writing.
- Computer literacy, particularly MS Office Suite products.
- Current unencumbered Class 5 Driver’s License.
