Executive General Manager, Home & Living Southern
About Aruma
Aruma is a leading Australian disability services provider committed to supporting people with disability to live the life they choose.
Operating across New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, and the Australian Capital Territory, Aruma provides a broad range of services including Home & Living, Community Supports, Employment Services, Children’s Services and Allied Health. The organisation works alongside thousands of people with disability, their families and communities, with a strong focus on human rights, inclusion and person-centred practice.
Aruma is committed to delivering services that make a meaningful difference while building an organisation that is operationally strong, financially sustainable and positioned to respond to the changing needs of the sector.
As the disability services landscape continues to evolve, this is an important period for Aruma. The organisation is focused on strengthening performance, building organisational capability and ensuring participants experience consistently high-quality services across its network.
The Role
Aruma is seeking an exceptional executive leader to take on the role of Executive General Manager, Home & Living Southern.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working as a key member of the senior leadership team, the Executive General Manager will have broad strategic and operational responsibility for the Home & Living Southern portfolio across multiple jurisdictions.
This is a substantial leadership role, with accountability for service performance, participant experience, workforce capability, financial outcomes, quality, safeguarding and regulatory compliance across a complex and geographically dispersed operation.
The successful executive will provide clear direction and leadership to Regional Managers and senior operational leaders, creating the environment for strong performance and consistent service delivery. A key priority will be building leadership capability, strengthening accountability and ensuring teams have the clarity, support and resources required to deliver.
The role will also have a strong focus on improving operational effectiveness and financial sustainability. The Executive General Manager will bring a disciplined and commercially informed approach to performance, workforce planning and resource utilisation, while ensuring decisions remain grounded in participant outcomes and Aruma's purpose.
Beyond the portfolio, the role will contribute to broader organisational priorities and strategic direction. The Executive General Manager will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, executive colleagues and key stakeholders to anticipate sector developments, respond to emerging opportunities and risks, and help position Aruma for sustainable growth.
The Executive
You are an experienced senior executive who has successfully led complex, multi-site operations within disability services, health, community services or a related human services environment.
You will bring a strong combination of strategic leadership, operational discipline and commercial acumen, with a track record of improving performance across sizeable and geographically dispersed portfolios.
You understand that sustainable performance in human services requires more than financial results. You are equally focused on service quality, participant experience, workforce capability, safeguarding and creating an environment in which people can perform at their best.
You have demonstrated experience leading through transformation, organisational change or periods of significant operational complexity. You are able to quickly understand an operating environment, identify opportunities for improvement and translate strategic priorities into clear, practical action.
As a leader, you are confident and authentic, with the presence and judgement to operate effectively at executive level. You build strong relationships, communicate with clarity and are comfortable challenging established thinking and holding leaders accountable for outcomes.
You will be equally comfortable engaging with strategic issues and understanding the operational detail that underpins performance. Importantly, you bring people with you through change, creating commitment while maintaining clear expectations around delivery.
Experience within the NDIS environment will be highly regarded, together with a strong understanding of contemporary disability services, safeguarding, quality frameworks, risk and regulatory requirements.
Above all, you will be motivated by the opportunity to lead at scale and make a meaningful contribution to the lives of people with disability.
