Summerland Farm is located on a beautiful macadamia and avocado farm, set high on the hills of the Alstonville plateau overlooking the Ballina coastline. About the role:

You will support the day-to-day operational requirements of Summerland Farm businesses, by continuously improving maintenance systems to meet site requirements, quality, and priorities so the business operations in maintaining production and service delivery targets for each business. The Maintenance Team Leader will ensure the safe operation of machinery and equipment (relevant to maintenance) conducting regular inspections to identify site maintenance issues.

The focus of this role will be to facilitate an efficient and safe production environment, collaborating with management to drive efficiency and minimise production down time, thus supporting Aruma’s Purpose and Values to enhance the lives of people with a disability, and achieve agreed operational and financial goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively plan and perform preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Effectively action maintenance issues that required urgent attention
  • Effectively plan and assist in site projects which include general carpentry and fabrication.
  • Work collaboratively with the Coordinator and Business Support Team to ensure services of the business are effectively promoted, planned, and coordinated.
  • Effectively planned and assisted in site projects which include general carpentry and fabrication.
  • Display excellent customer service, build positive relationships with external customers, suppliers, and broader community to enhance customer attraction to the business service offerings.
  • Provide effective and efficient administrative support to ensure all operational and NDIS requirements are achieved.
  • Supported Employees are supported to become skilled team members of the Business Supports services team.
  • Provide effective operational leadership, which increased team productivity, with a positive values-focused culture facilitating cooperation and collaboration.
  • Demonstrate proficient use of relevant Microsoft programs & business systems to meet reporting and administrative requirements.
  • Demonstrate technological skills necessary to perform data entry, manage team calendars and administration software whilst creating business reports.

About You:

  • Trade qualified and/ or previous relevant experience in repairs/maintenance
  • Ability to complete handyperson jobs, including basic electrical, carpentry and plumbing repairs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal, including adapting communication style to meet individual needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to use problem solving skills to identify best solution for repairing on site issues.
  • Sound organisational skills and ability to prioritise and supervise the work of a small team.
  • Demonstrates respect towards people with a disability.
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • A high level of physical fitness to meet the manual handling and environmental requirements of the position.
  • Attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.
  • Brings a positive attitude consistent with Summerland Farm’s ethos and Aruma’s values, contributing to an engaging workplace culture celebrating diversity and continuous improvement.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office, SharePoint)
  • A practical understanding of WHS requirements
  • Have or be willing to complete a NDIS Worker Screening Check clearance and National Police Check clearance
  • Have or be willing to complete a First aid and CPR Certificate
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence
