Leading Hand (Farm Services)

Summerland Farm is hiring a hands‑on Farm Services Leading Hand to support daily operations across their large avocado and macadamia orchards and to lead a small team delivering farm service contracts across the region.

Core responsibilities:

• Assist with orchard operations: harvest, pruning, irrigation checks, pest/weed control, seasonal prep.
• Operate farm machinery confidently (tractors, implements, harvest equipment).
• Lead and coordinate a small team delivering off‑site farm services.
• Plan and prioritise work around weather, seasonal needs, and operational demands.
• Work collaboratively across multiple business units (horticulture, tourism, food production, retail, maintenance).

We are they’re looking for:

• Practical experience in farming, horticulture, or orchard work.
• Strong machinery skills.
• Ability to lead, coach, and support a small team.
• Reliable communicator with strong safety focus.
• Physically fit for outdoor work in hot/variable weather.
• Adaptable and comfortable working across different business areas.
