Targeted Care Package (TCP) Key Worker
Ready to take the lead in supporting children and young people with complex needs?
If you’re a Support Worker with Targeted Care Package, Residential Care or Child Protection experience, and you’re ready to step into a role with greater responsibility, influence and impact, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
At Aruma, we support children and young people with complex needs to build stability, safety and brighter futures. Our TCP Key Workers play a critical role in making this happen — leading care coordination, stabilising placements and driving long‑term outcomes.
About the role
As a TCP Key Worker, you’ll move beyond day‑to‑day shift delivery and take ownership of case coordination and therapeutic support for children and young people in the Targeted Care Package program.
This is a hands‑on, senior practitioner role, ideal for someone who:
- Has supported young people with complex trauma and behaviours
- Is confident leading by example
- Wants to influence care planning, not just follow it
You’ll work closely with carers, families and service systems to create stability, reduce escalation and help young people thrive.
This role is Permanent Part Time, 20 hpw located in Bundoora VIC (flexible/hybrid).
What you’ll be doing
- Providing intensive, therapeutic, individualised support to children and young people with complex needs
- Leading case coordination, care planning and progress reviews
- Coaching and supporting carers using trauma‑informed approaches
- Working closely with schools, child protection, clinicians and other services
- Actively preventing placement breakdown and responding to emerging risks
- Maintaining high‑quality case notes, reports and outcomes tracking
- Advocating for the young person’s voice in all decision‑making
This role is perfect for you if you:
- Are a Support Worker with TCP, Residential Care or Child Protection experience
- Have worked with complex trauma, behaviours of concern and placement instability
- Are confident supporting others and influencing outcomes
- Want to step into a role with greater autonomy and responsibility
- Are passionate about therapeutic, trauma‑informed practice
You don’t need prior “Key Worker” experience — your frontline experience is highly valued.
What you’ll bring
- Experience supporting children or young people with complex needs
- Strong relationship‑building and communication skills
- A calm, trauma‑informed approach under pressure
- Confidence working across systems and stakeholders
- Alignment with Aruma’s BRAVE values:
- Bold | Respectful | Accountable | Value Teamwork | Excellent
Relevant qualifications (such as Child, Youth & Family or Community Services) are desirable, and support may be available for further study.
Why join Aruma?
- Take the next step in your career without losing connection to direct work
- Make a genuine, long‑term impact in young people’s lives
- Be supported by experienced leaders and specialist teams
- Work for a values‑led, human rights‑based organisation
- Feel proud of the outcomes you help create — every single day
