What you’ll do

As part of our Families in Focus team, you’ll support individuals and families impacted by family violence, including children who experience or witness violence, while also working therapeutically with individuals who use violence to help them understand and change their behaviour.

You’ll take a whole of family, strengths based approach, providing counselling, support, education and referrals that promote safety, wellbeing and healthier relationships. You’ll also build strong partnerships across AnglicareSA and the broader community, sharing your expertise and contributing to services that make a meaningful difference for vulnerable families.

This position is 0.8FTE, contracted until 30th June 2027 and based at Christies Beach.

This position would also require working one evening per week (typically Tuesdays or Thursdays) until 9am with a later start.

You’ll be trusted to make a valuable impact by:

● Providing therapeutic counselling, support, education and referral pathways for individuals and families affected by family violence, including children and young people.

● Working therapeutically with individuals who use violence, supporting them to understand the impact of their behaviour on partners, former partners and children and work towards positive change.

● Delivering family and relationship-focused activities, including intake and assessment, outreach, parenting support, education and skills development.

● Building strong relationships with internal teams, community partners and external agencies, while providing specialist advice on family safety and wellbeing.

What you’ll bring

To thrive in this role, you will have:

● Tertiary qualifications in Human Services or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience, with extensive experience working in the community services sector.

● Demonstrated experience supporting individuals and families impacted by family violence, with a strong understanding of the impacts of historical and intergenerational abuse and violence.

● Strong therapeutic counselling skills, including experience working with individuals who use violence and supporting behaviour change.

● The ability to engage individuals, couples and families using a whole of family, strengths based and culturally humble approach, particularly when working with vulnerable or disadvantaged communities.

● Strong relationship building, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
