So many lives. So many ways. One you.
50,000 lives and counting.
That’s how many South Australians our people support each year.
As one of the state’s leading not-for-profits, we’re making a meaningful impact at scale. From foster care to aged care and everything in between, our services are as diverse as the people and communities we serve - and we’re growing our reach for the future.
It takes a special kind of person to work in this sector. Someone with real compassion and care. Could that person be you?
This is a fantastic in-house opportunity for someone looking to begin their legal career. In this role you will assist with contract management, privacy compliance, insurance and NFP specific legal advice.
We don’t expect you to know everything on day one – we are looking for a sharp mind, a “can-do” attitude and a desire to learn from a friendly team.
What you’ll do
We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Legal Counsel to join our Legal Services team. This is a foundational role where you will work closely with our experienced lawyers, gaining hands-on exposure and contributing to providing legal advice across our broad organisation.
Our ideal candidate will be a motivated and enthusiastic graduate (recently admitted or eligible for admission) who is eager to launch their career in-house, has excellent communication and time management skills, a curious mindset and an interest in how legal advice supports business goals.
Reporting to the Head of Legal Services, you will step into a truly diverse in-house role. You will be mentored to become a trusted legal partner across our vast and complex social services organisation.
This position offers a unique opportunity to develop your legal skills in a values-based environment that provides essential services to the community, while building a solid professional toolkit across a wide range of legal functions.
You’ll be trusted to make a valuable impact by:
- Assisting with the drafting and review of agreements, while ensuring that ongoing obligations and compliance requirements are met across all contracting arrangements.
- Gaining exposure to insurance matters by supporting the management and review of our insurance portfolio.
- Helping provide advice on a diverse range of legal issues, including employment law matters, internal industrial investigations, and legislative changes.
- Drafting high-quality legal documentation, including letters, reports, internal memos of advice, and organisational policies.
- Responding to legal requests for information, such as court orders and personal information (privacy) requests, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Communicating and developing relationships with stakeholders across all areas and levels of the business to provide practical legal support.
What you’ll bring
Targeted at candidates who have recently completed their GDLP, you will have Tertiary qualifications in Law, and admission to the Supreme Court of South Australia.
To thrive in this role, you will have:
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to non-legal colleagues.
- Strong computer literacy skills, particularly in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to maintain records and sensitive information confidentially.
We would also love you to have:
- Passion for purpose-led work and a genuine commitment to AnglicareSA’s mission.
- Prior clerkships and experience working in office environments (or even retail and hospitality) will be highly regarded.
- Interest or foundational knowledge of any of the National Redress Scheme, Privacy, IT and emerging technologies, Employment Law, Employee Relations and Industrial Law will be valued
