What you’ll do

As a youth Mentor you will be matched with a child or young person under the Guardianship of the Chief Executive who may be feeling disconnected from education or community supports. Each week you will spend meaningful time together doing an activity you plan together, it might be going for a walk, catching a movie, playing a sport, or grabbing a bite to eat.

Through regular outings you will build a safe, supportive relationship where young people feel encouraged to grow, try new things and work towards their personal goals.

Being a Mentor at AnglicareSA is about connection, encouragement, and being someone who shows up each week.

This is a casual/ client-linked role working aprox. 3 hours per week (1 shift).

We have vacant positions in the Southern & Northern suburbs.

You’ll be trusted to make a valuable impact by:

● Being a consistent, trusted presence in a young person's life

● Planning and taking part in fun, weekly activates that you and your mentee plan together

● Supporting them in building confidence, social skills, and a sense of belonging

● Helping them identify goals and celebrate small wins

What you’ll bring

To thrive in this role, you will have:

● Qualifications (or working towards) either Psychology, Community Services, Social Work or similar will be highly regarded

● Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with young people from diverse backgrounds

● A non-judgemental approach and an understanding of trauma informed care

● Demonstrated commitment to reflective practice that focuses on strengths and builds capacity of individuals
