That’s how many South Australians our people support each year.
As one of the state’s leading not-for-profits, we’re making a meaningful impact at scale. From foster care to aged care and everything in between, our services are as diverse as the people and communities we serve - and we’re growing our reach for the future.
It takes a special kind of person to work in this sector. Someone with real compassion and care. Could that person be you?
Join us as a Community Development Worker in our Communities for Children program and be part of something bigger.
What you’ll do
As a Community Development Worker you will support children aged 0-12 years and their families in the northern region of Adelaide by helping to create strong, connected and child-friendly communities. Working within a place-based, community development framework, you will support the delivery of inclusive and accessible activities that build capacity, reduce isolation and improve outcomes for children and families.
As part of the Communities for Children program, you will work closely with families, community members and local services to identify needs, respond to emerging issues and strengthen community connections through practical, strengths-based initiatives.
This is a full-time, fixed-term role until 31 January 2027, based at The Platform (Elizabeth).
You’ll be trusted to make a valuable impact by:
● Design & deliver: Supporting the development and delivery of engaging, strengths-based community activities for children and their families, aligned with community needs and program objectives.
● Build Relationships: Act as a key point of contact for families, building trusted relationships and connecting them with local services, resources, and community groups.
● Foster Community: Develop and maintain strong partnerships with local stakeholders to create a collaborative and supportive network for families.
● Empower Families: Support parents and carers by providing skills training and fostering opportunities for them to engage in their children's learning and development.
What you’ll bring
To thrive in this role, you will have:
● A qualification in Social Sciences, Community Services, Development, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
● Proven experience in delivering community development activities and facilitating groups within a capacity-building framework.
●Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a natural ability to build and maintain effective partnerships.
