That’s how many South Australians our people support each year.
As one of the state’s leading not-for-profits, we’re making a meaningful impact at scale. From foster care to aged care and everything in between, our services are as diverse as the people and communities we serve - and we’re growing our reach for the future.
It takes a special kind of person to work in this sector. Someone with real compassion and care. Could that person be you?
Join us as a Community Connections Worker, and be part of something bigger.
What you’ll do
As a Community Connections Worker, you’ll play a key role in strengthening social connection, wellbeing and inclusion across the southern metropolitan region. Based at Christies Beach, this position combines intake and assessment responsibilities with a strong community development focus, supporting people aged 18–64 to build independence, increase access to services and strengthen their connection to community.
Working within a state wide program alongside a range of community partners, you’ll help people navigate support systems, identify opportunities for connection and ensure no one is turned away when seeking support. You’ll collaborate closely with local councils, community centres and service providers to build referral pathways, respond to emerging community needs and create meaningful opportunities for participation and inclusion.
This is an opportunity to be part of a small, supportive team that values adaptability, collaboration and person-centred practice. You’ll also have access to ongoing training and development opportunities, including trauma-informed practice training and involvement in a research partnership with Flinders University.
Part-time opportunity (0.5FTE), fixed-term contract until 30th June 2028, based at Christies Beach.
You’ll be trusted to make a valuable impact by:
● Providing intake, assessment and referral support to connect participants with appropriate services, programs and community opportunities.
● Building strong relationships with local councils, community centres and service providers to strengthen referral pathways and collaborative partnerships.
●Participating in community engagement activities, practitioner meetings and local networking opportunities to identify emerging community needs and opportunities.
● Supporting community development initiatives that reduce social isolation and increase social connection across the region.
To thrive in this role, you will have:
● Tertiary qualifications in social sciences, community services, community development or equivalent demonstrated experience.
● Experience in community development, intake and assessment, service navigation or case management within the human services sector.
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with vulnerable individuals, community stakeholders and partner organisations.
● Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed, culturally safe and person-centred practice, particularly when working with First Nations and culturally diverse communities.
We would also love you to have:
● Knowledge or local services in the southern region.
