As one of South Australia’s leading not-for-profits, we are continuing to grow and respond to changing community needs. This role is an opportunity to partner with leaders across a diverse and purpose-led portfolio, influencing people strategy, employee relations, workforce planning and organisational change.

Join us as our HR Manager – Community Services & Housing, and help shape the people practices that support our teams to change lives.

What you’ll do

As our HR Manager – Community Services & Housing, you will provide trusted strategic and operational HR leadership across a complex and purpose-driven portfolio. Working closely with senior leaders, People & Culture colleagues and key stakeholders, you will help shape workforce strategies that support service excellence, employee engagement, leadership capability and sustainable growth.

This role will suit an experienced HR leader who is confident balancing strategic priorities with complex operational matters. You will lead through influence, provide expert advice on employee relations and workforce risk, and support leaders to make sound, values-aligned people decisions. A key part of this role will also be embedding people and culture practices in alignment with the Sanctuary Model of trauma-informed leadership.

You will lead and support a small team, including a People Advisor, Recruitment Business Partner and Volunteer & Student Placement Coordinator, while partnering with leaders across Community Services and Housing to deliver high-quality, responsive and practical HR support.

You’ll be trusted to make a valuable impact by:

  • Providing strategic and operational HR leadership across the Community Services & Housing portfolio.
  • Coaching and supporting leaders on workforce planning, organisational design, change management and people priorities.
  • Leading complex employee relations matters, including performance, misconduct, grievances, investigations and fitness for work
  • Interpreting and applying employment legislation, Enterprise Agreements, Awards, HR policies and governance frameworks.
  • Partnering with the Volunteer & Student Placement Lead to develop and implement volunteer and student placement strategies that strengthen workforce capability and support the evolving needs of the portfolios.
  • Partnering across People & Culture, Learning and Development, Quality & Risk and portfolio leaders to deliver integrated workforce solutions.

What you’ll bring

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, Psychology or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex employee relations matters and workplace investigations.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, industrial relations frameworks, Enterprise Agreements and Awards.
  • Proven ability to influence, coach and support leaders at all levels of an organisation.
  • Experience supporting workforce planning, organisational change, capability development and strategic people initiatives.

We would also love you to have:

  • Experience working in community services, housing, human services, not-for-profit or similarly complex environments.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice or the Sanctuary Model.
  • Strong analytical capability, including the ability to interpret workforce data, identify trends and recommend practical actions.
  • A leadership style grounded in integrity, compassion, accountability, inclusion and service excellence.
