What you'll do
In this rewarding role, you’ll support the preparation of nutritious and flavoursome meals that meet the dietary needs of our residents — including texture-modified options — while helping to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen environment.
This is a Permanent Part Time opportunity, roster as follows:
WEEK 1 - Mon 0700-1500, Tues 1030-1730, Wed 1030-1730, Thurs 1030-1730
WEEK 2 - Mon 0700-1500, Tues 1030-1730, Wed 1030-1730, Sun 1030-1730
As a Second Cook, you’ll contribute to the wellbeing of our residents by preparing delicious, high-quality meals that support their health and enjoyment. You’ll also play an active role in ensuring compliance with food safety standards and supporting a positive team culture.
- Assisting in the preparation of nutritious, flavoursome meals that meet individual dietary and texture-modified requirements.
- Working in line with HACCP guidelines, Food Safety Plans, and all relevant policies and procedures.
- Operating and cleaning kitchen equipment safely and in accordance with legislative requirements, and reporting equipment or service issues promptly.
- Lead and assist the hospitality team in meal preparation, collaborating positively with colleagues to deliver a high-quality, customer-focused meal service.
- Promoting and maintaining a strong Work Health and Safety (WH&S) culture through safe work practices and participation in safety initiatives.
- Provide prompt courteous service and act in a professional manner at all times when dealing with residents, families, team, and colleagues.
What you'll bring
- Certificate III in Food Processing or demonstrated experience cooking in a commercial kitchen environment.
- Experience working in an aged care environment is highly desirable
- Experience preparing texture-modified meals.
- Proven ability to work positively and productively to prepare and deliver quality, nutritious, flavoursome meals that meet legislative, regulatory and dietary requirements.
- Demonstrated understanding of food hygiene practices.
- Ability to develop a strong, cohesive work team.
- Exceptional customer service skills and ability to interact with our residents in a friendly manner.
- Proven ability to liaise with suppliers and order supplies for the kitchen within budget.
We are after a Cook to work in our Trott Park aged care facility, utilise your creativity and passion for food to deliver outstanding meals for our residents that are nutritious and delicious.
