Who are we looking for?
We are looking for warm and friendly volunteers to provide important social connections through home visits to older South Australians. By volunteering you'll assist in reducing the biggest risk factor of social isolation for our aging community, by offering caring companionship through one-to one visits to those experiencing loneliness.
What can you expect to be doing?
Home visiting Customers: Visiting carefully matched older South Australians in their homes, providing friendly conversation or a shared interest for an hour once a week or fortnight. Your kindness and engagement will help alleviate feelings of loneliness and social isolation.
Document Your Impact: Briefly record your visit details and email a brief update to the customer’s Care Coordinator.
Reporting: Share any customer concerns with customer’s Care Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator.
What do you need to bring?
- Ability to engage effectively with others in accordance with AnglicareSA’s values
- Empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental, respectful approach
- Ability to speak clearly with people who might have trouble hearing
- Relate well with people from a variety of different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
- Report to the volunteer coordinator any areas of concern regarding the customers you are volunteering with
