AnglicareSA supports residents to maintain their independence by offering programs to suit their needs, and that’s where you come in! 

The position will suit and experienced, safe driver who enjoys interacting and spending time with elderly residents. The role involves escorting residents for scenic drives around the Southern Suburbs for them to get out, gain some fresh air and enjoy all of what Adelaide’s South has to offer!

Duties Include:

  • Assist with the loading and securing of customers into the vehicle when the customer has mobility and/or disability challenges.
  • Ensure all passengers are safely secured in their seats in accordance with government regulations.
  • Assist staff with loading and unloading any wheelchairs, walking frames, luggage, bags, boxes, supplies or other materials and tools needed for the excursion/journey.
  • Ensure that manual handling rules and best practice is always applied during loading and unloading of passengers, customers, materials and tools.
  • Be physically and mentally capable and report to undertake voluntary tasks in a fit state to perform all duties.
  • Wear a volunteer nametag and sign in and out each day whilst volunteering.
  • Attend meetings and training connected to the area you work in.
  • Wear the personal protective equipment always provided for your role whilst volunteering.
  • Update program coordinator immediately if there have been any changes to your licence
  • Comply with Residential Aged Care policies and procedures for covid and flu vaccinations.
  • Comply with covid guides at Residential Aged Care sites eg PPE or RAT requirements.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Report any identified hazards or safety issues immediately to your Wellness Coordinator and do not drive the vehicle until these have been fixed.
  • Must be appropriately dressed, neat casual clothing and wear enclosed shoes.
  • Take the vehicle through the car wash and vacuum when directed by the Program Coordinator.
  • You will need only a regular Australian Driver’s License due to it being a Mini Bus.
  • Must adhere to the AnglicareSA Motor Vehicle Policy and agree to abide by the requirements of the policy and sign the AnglicareSA vehicle use declaration form.
  • Adhere to and follow the rules of the road, such as speed limits, parking restrictions etc. 

What do you need to bring?

  • Clearances required for the role, Working with Children Clearance, National Police clearance, Psychosocial Assessment clearance (if applicable)] 
  • COVID-19 vaccination including the booster shot and Influenza vaccine
