Are you a handy individual, or have a bit of a green thumb? Why not come and volunteer your time at AnglicareSA’s Trott Park Residential Aged Care!

Our Social Gardening volunteers will collaborate with our lifestyle team and volunteer within our gardening program which is designed to maintain and enhance the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of residents based on their individual needs and interests.

We are looking for someone who is a keen gardener to join our team! They will be self-motivated and understand garden maintenance and willing to get stuck in!

Duties Include:

  • Support and assist customers with a range of gardening activities such as: watering, fertilising, weeding, planting and propagating, creating garden beds etc.
  • Assist with packing all garden tools at the end of the day
  • Seek guidance from staff immediately if concerned about self or a customer in attendance in the garden area (health, wellbeing, safety)
  • Work as a member of a team which could include working alongside staff and other volunteers in the garden
  • Report any hazards or problems with garden equipment to the Wellness Coordinator or Day Respite Program
  • Advise of any consumables that need to be purchased to the Wellness Coordinator or Day Respite Program
  • Undertake other appropriate duties as negotiated by the Wellness Coordinator

What do you need to bring:

  • Complete the required volunteer online training modules.
  • Be physically and mentally capable and report to undertake voluntary tasks in a fit state to perform all duties.
  • Attend a volunteer induction and orientation session.
  • Participate in on-the-job training.
  • Wear a volunteer nametag and sign in and out each day whilst volunteering.
  • Attend meetings and training connected to the area you work in.
  • Wear the personal protective equipment provided for your role at all times whilst volunteering.
  • Comply with Residential Aged Care policies and procedures for covid and flu vaccinations.
  • Comply with covid guides at Residential Aged Care sites eg PPE or RAT requirements.
