The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced BESS Engineer to join our dynamic Transformers team based in Tomago. In this role, you will be at the cutting edge of energy storage innovation, helping to design, engineer, and deliver world-class BESS solutions that support renewable integration, grid resilience, and energy independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop BESS system architecture, including batteries, inverters, EMS, HVAC, and protection systems.
  • Perform system sizing, modelling, and performance simulations.
  • Evaluate component specifications and lead technical assessments of supplier offerings.
  • Support project delivery across all phases: concept, detailed design, procurement, commissioning, and operations.
  • Liaise with internal teams, external partners, and clients to ensure seamless integration and technical excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, electrical standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., AS/NZS, IEC, IEEE, UL).
  • Assist in commissioning, testing, diagnostics, and performance optimization of deployed systems.

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline.
  • 2–5+ years of experience working in energy storage, power systems, or related engineering roles.
  • Strong understanding of lithium-ion battery technologies, power conversion systems, and control strategies.
  • Proficiency with design and simulation tools such as ETAP, MATLAB/Simulink,
  • Excellent technical documentation, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
