The opportunity:
Ampcontrol is seeking a hands-on Cable Repairer to join our Cable Services team. Based at our Kewdale workshop and reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, this role supports customers across the mining and infrastructure sectors by providing cable testing, repairs, terminations and general workshop support.
Our Cables Business plays an important role in keeping critical operations running safely and reliably across Australia. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, detailed work in a workshop environment and is ready to build capability in a specialised field. We are also open to entry-level candidates who bring the right attitude, reliability and strong work ethic, with training and support provided to help them build capability in the role.
This role offers a 4-day working week, Monday to Thursday, supporting a great work-life balance. Overtime may be available from time to time and is flexible and optional — not mandatory.
What You’ll Do
- Test and repair reeling, trailing and flexible cables
- Inspect and fit plugs and couplers for reeling, trailing and flexible cables
- Verify that repaired cables comply with relevant standards, regulations and legislation
- Provide general trades assistant support as required
- Travel infrequently to other Ampcontrol sites or client sites when required
What We’re Looking For
- A strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
- Experience in an industrial, mining, manufacturing or workshop environment would be advantageous, however we are also open to entry-level candidates who bring the right attitude, reliability and work ethic
- Good hand tool skills and strong attention to detail
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions
- Willingness to learn cable repair processes and work in a busy workshop environment
- Heavy vehicle MR licence and forklift ticket will be highly regarded
- Dogging or basic rigging qualifications are desirable, but not required
