Ampcontrol's Underground Field Service team is growing, and we're looking for skilled Field Service Technicians to support our underground mining customers across New South Wales and Queensland.

This is an opportunity to join a specialist field service team working on industry-leading mining and electrical systems. You'll provide installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance and breakdown support across a variety of underground coal operations while enjoying a 4-day working week, strong earning potential and extensive travel benefits.

Based out of Tomago, NSW, this role involves regular travel throughout NSW, with occasional travel to QLD. This is not a FIFO position.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Field Service Technician, you'll play a key role in supporting, maintaining and commissioning Ampcontrol equipment and systems across underground mining operations. Working independently and within small teams, you'll provide technical expertise and frontline support to customers across a range of mine sites.

You'll be working on equipment and systems including:

  • Longwall systems
  • Development power systems
  • Conveyor signal line and communication systems
  • Gas monitoring equipment
  • High voltage electrical equipment
  • Diesel plant electrical systems

Key responsibilities include:

  • Install, test and commission electrical equipment underground and within workshop environments
  • Perform onsite electrical auditing, testing, fault finding and breakdown support
  • Commission and install mining electrical systems and equipment
  • Provide face-to-face technical support to customers onsite
  • Work independently and collaboratively across a variety of mine sites
  • Complete service reports and maintenance documentation in a timely manner
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality and customer satisfaction

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Electrical Trade Qualification with Electrical qualified Supervisors license
  • Experience working with HV electrical equipment and systems within mining or industrial environments
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capabilities
  • Experience with underground coal systems, ideally including Ampcontrol-controlled systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of explosion protection techniques
  • Strong report writing and communication skills
  • A proactive and task-focused approach to problem solving
  • The ability to work autonomously and make sound decisions
  • A commitment to providing exceptional customer service
  • Flexibility to travel and work away from home as required

The following qualifications and experience will be highly regarded:

  • Hazardous Area Competencies
  • HV Switching Qualification
  • AS3800 Repair & Overhaul Competencies
  • Understanding of AS3800, AS4871, AS5368 and AS2290
  • Previous experience with Ampcontrol products and systems
  • Testing of Protection relays
