ABOUT THE ROLE:

Our strategic plans for growth and expansion means we are looking for a Project Manager to play a pivotal role in helping Ampcontrol lead the global energy revolution.

Reporting to the Group Manager - Strategic Growth, this role will form part of Ampcontrol’s PCS (Power Conversion Systems) team. As Project Manager, you will take on the planning and execution of a range of capital projects, working to agreed budgets and schedules.

Responsibilities and deliverables:

  • Lead role in the delivery and management of complex Power Conversion System (PCS) projects including technical scope, schedule, resourcing negotiations and budget.
  • Manage project records and critical documentation.
  • Manage the delivery of key project milestones.
  • Working closely with the procurement team to ensure materials and resources are procured in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Responsible for undertaking internal / external stakeholder engagements to plan and deliver PCS pipeline projects, including providing project updates and communicating project risk.
  • Attend project meetings and manage Customer RFI's.
  • Develop technical specifications and work scopes for PCS projects.
  • Responsible for PCS project Quality Assurance documentation, demonstrating projects are fit for purpose and have been tested and commissioned effectively.
  • Conducting regular site visits to ensure project progress is on track and quality standards are being met.

What are we looking for from you?

  • Professional Electrical Engineering Qualification, Chartered Professional Engineer (current CPEng/RPEQ or commitment to becoming within 18 months).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the delivery of power projects as a developer, in utility or heavy industry (e.g. mining, manufacturing, oil and gas etc)
  • Detailed knowledge of engineering procedures and practices as applied to the power industry and large engineering organisations.
  • Experience in the review and audit of engineering concepts and designs.
  • Practical experience with power system testing and commissioning – converters (inverters, rectifiers, UPS etc), transformers, switchgear, switchboards, cables, PLC and protection relay programming / testing, control system interfacing and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience delivering project compliance within the boundaries of commercial contracts, technical requirements, standards, jurisdictional and statutory requirements for large grid connected power engineering projects.
  • An understanding of BESS on a large scale and an understanding of Control Systems related to High Power Conversion Systems.
