Mechanical Engineer – Data Centres

We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Data Centres and Critical Power team. This is an opportunity to work on complex mechanical designs and contribute to the delivery of switchrooms and critical power infrastructure for data centre environments.

What you’ll do

• Develop and deliver mechanical designs in accordance with customer specifications, project requirements, contracts, relevant standards and regulatory requirements.
• Design and detail mechanical systems and components for switchrooms and critical power infrastructure.
• Produce accurate 3D models and engineering drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
• Participate in risk assessments, order reviews and design reviews to ensure quality, compliance and continuous improvement.
• Maintain design consistency and ensure designs are completed in line with project schedules.
• Prepare work packages, inspection and test plans, product quality documentation and other project deliverables.
• Identify design issues and provide timely, practical engineering solutions.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Assembly and Workshop teams to ensure designs can be effectively manufactured and delivered.
• Provide mechanical design advice, technical support and engineering calculations to other Ampcontrol divisions as required.
• Contribute to the continual improvement of engineering processes, design standards and product quality.

About you

You’ll be a qualified Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineer with a practical approach to engineering and a strong understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing.

You will ideally have:

• Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience designing switchrooms, electrical enclosures or similar industrial equipment.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, engineering standards and documentation.
• Experience preparing engineering calculations, drawings and technical documentation.
• The ability to interpret customer specifications and translate requirements into practical engineering solutions.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to design quality.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, project, assembly and workshop teams.
• A proactive approach to identifying problems and developing solutions.
