The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for Apprentice Spray Painter to join the team at Wales, Adelaide.

As an Apprentice Spray Painter, you will be responsible for applying paint and other coatings to heavy vehicles, specifically trucks. You will work under the guidance of experienced spray painters to learn the techniques and skills required to produce high-quality finishes on large vehicles.

Role responsibilities

As an Apprentice Spray Painter at Wales, Adelaide, you will learn:

  • Cleaning, sanding, and masking vehicle surfaces to prepare it for paint
  • Mixing and matching paint colours to accurately match desired colour
  • Using spray guns and other equipment to apply paint evenly and smoothly onto vehicle surfaces
  • Applying primers and sealers to promote paint adhesion, prevent rust, and create a solid foundation for the topcoat
  • Applying multiple layers of paint, including basecoat, clearcoat, and other specialised coatings
  • Skilfully blending new paint into existing areas
  • Performing detailed touch-ups to correct imperfections
  • Creating special textures, patterns, or effects using different techniques
  • Monitoring and controlling drying and curing processes
  • Inspecting painted surfaces for flaws
  • Adhering to safety protocols, using proper ventilation, protective gear, and ensuring a safe working environment for oneself and others.
