Role Overview:
The Driver – Food & Internal Mail Services, is responsible for the safe, timely and compliant transportation of chilled meals and internal mail between Alpine Health sites, including residential aged care and acute services. Operating within a rural multi-purpose health service, this role supports clinical care and resident wellbeing by, ensuring accurate delivery schedules, and upholding confidentiality and safety standards. The position contributes to the efficient functioning of Alpine Health’s integrated service model across multiple campuses.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Transport
- Transport chilled and cold food items between Alpine Health campuses in accordance with Food Safety Standards and Alpine Health’s Food Safety Program.
- Monitor and document food temperatures during loading, transit and delivery.
- Ensure food is handled, secured and delivered safely to designated areas.
Internal Mail & Documentation Distribution
- Complete daily internal mail runs between campuses, ensuring timely and secure distribution.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive clinical, resident or organisational documentation.
Vehicle & Safety Responsibilities
- Conduct daily vehicle safety checks and maintain cleanliness.
- Report maintenance requirements or incidents promptly.
- Adhere to Workplace Health & Safety (WHS), infection prevention and control, and manual handling policies.
Communication & Collaboration
- Liaise effectively with kitchen, clinical and administrative teams to support smooth service delivery.
- Escalate delays, incidents or risks that may impact residents, patients or services.
Essential:
- Current Victorian driver’s licence.
- Safe driving history.
- Ability to work independently across multiple rural sites.
- Sound understanding of confidentiality and privacy in healthcare.
- Demonstrated time management and organisational skills.
- Physical capacity to undertake manual handling tasks safely.
- Commitment to workplace safety and infection prevention principles.
