Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

About us

Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services, which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.

The single most important goal of AMAH is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts and strives to minimise service system barriers to the recovery process.

What you’ll be doing

The Specialist Family Violence Advisor position will enable Alfred Mental and Addiction Health to enhance the capacity to identify and respond to family violence noting that mental health services are in a unique position to identify family violence and intervene early.

The position will be required to consider the specific needs across the age range including young people accessing the Child and Youth Mental Health Services and older people at risk of elder abuse. 

About you

  • Approved degree in Social Work and evidence of eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • Advanced social work and/or family violence skills, knowledge and experience in providing evidenced based interventions for individuals, groups and communities.
  • Previous experience of working within a mental health and or general health setting.
  • Experience working in a clinical role with people affected by family violence, including people from the diverse communities. 
  • Experience delivering training, preferably training pertaining to family violence.
  • Experience in participating in service, project or policy development in health organisations.
  • Australian working rights
  • Current Working with Children Check and be willing to undergo a Background Check
