The Department  

The Endocrinology and Diabetes department at Bayside Health - Alfred Care Group provides specialised treatment, care, education and ongoing support for people with endocrine conditions, which includes Diabetes. This department will be servicing the Menopausal Connecting Care Clinic (MCCC) and the Women’s Bone Clinic—to provide integrated, coordinated, and patient‑centred care for women experiencing menopausal symptoms, endocrine changes, and bone‑health risks across the lifespan. Together, these clinics aim to streamline access to multidisciplinary expertise, enhance early detection and prevention of chronic and metabolic conditions, reduce service fragmentation, and deliver evidence‑based, culturally safe, holistic care. The department is also actively involved in research.  

The Role  

There is an exciting opportunity for a Bone/Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner to work across 2 clinics, Women’s Bone Clinic and the Menopause Connecting Care Clinic, as well working within the unit. The Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse who has acquired the expert knowledge base, complex decision making skills and clinical competencies for expanded practice. The Nurse Practitioner is an integral member of the health care team who practices autonomously, although in collaboration with other health professionals to assess and manage clients within their clinical context using nursing knowledge and skills. Extensions to practice include prescription of medications and at least one of the following: ordering diagnostic investigations, direct referral to other health care professionals, the ability to admit and discharge patients and/or provision of absence from work certificates.  

Experience Required 

  • Extensive advanced knowledge of clinical specialty area. 
  • Peer recognition as a leader within clinical field.  
  • Knowledge of research methods and processes, the ability to generate own research, as well as the ability to analyse and interpret existing data. 
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills across a broad range of health professionals.  
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.  
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and innovative.  
  • Capacity for critical reflection.  
  • An understanding of the political sensitivity of developing the Nurse Practitioner role 
  • Evidence of competent utilisation of extensions to advanced nursing practice according to approved Clinical Practice Guidelines in the clinical area.  

Qualifications Required   

Essential  

  • Current Registered as a Registered Nurse with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA.  
  • Current endorsement by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Nurse Practitioner.  
  • Completed a Masters of Nurse Practitioner (or a Masters granted equivalence of qualification by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency plus an approved Therapeutic Medication Management module).
