The Department
Alfred Care Group Community Rehabilitation Program provides Home and Centre Based rehabilitation as well as the Falls Clinic services. The service's focus is on the provision of goal-directed, community-based rehabilitation for clients following injury or hospitalisation. The Community Rehabilitation multidisciplinary team comprises physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, dietitians, neuropsychologist, psychologist, allied health assistants, rehabilitation medicine doctor, registered nurse and social workers.
The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic and supportive Community Rehabilitation team.
- A major focus of this position will be to provide professional leadership to Occupational Therapy clinicians within the Community Rehabilitation Program, contributing to service development, quality improvement and best practice care.
- You will play a key role in shaping the delivery of high quality, client-centered rehabilitation service in the community.
- Your clinical caseload will be diverse and stimulating, with opportunities to work across a range of presentations including neurological, orthopaedic, cardiac, spinal, pulmonary and functional decline diagnoses.
- You will collaborate closely with two other Senior Occupational Therapists to deliver goal-directed rehabilitation that supports clients to maximise independence and participation.
- Along with the clinical responsibilities, you will also provide supervision to OT, AHA staff and students.
The role is ideal for a Senior Occupational Therapist who is passionate about leadership, collaboration and making a meaningful difference in community based rehabilitation.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Minimum seven years of clinical experience (including in outpatient or community-based rehabilitation).
- Strong clinical knowledge and skills in ambulatory rehabilitation, treatment techniques and outcome measures.
- Demonstrated previous expertise in leadership of health services.
- Well-developed leadership skills, including demonstrated experience in supervision of staff and ability to undertake performance management.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated skills in the evaluation and implementation of evidence-based practice and modification of service delivery.
- Prior involvement in leading quality improvement initiatives.
- High level of communication and interpersonal skills to promote teamwork, and a proven ability to resolve conflict and relate effectively to people at all levels of the organisation.
- Sound skills in organisation, planning and priority setting.
