ABOUT US

There are multiple positions available across three different areas : 

1. Headspace: Headspace Southern Melbourne was established in 2007 and Alfred Health became the lead agency in 2011. The centre was relocated and became Headspace Elsternwick in 2013. In the same year, Headspace Elsternwick launched the beginnings of the Headspace Early Psychosis program

2. Emergency & Trauma Centre West Wing (West Wing): is an Emergency Psychiatry and Short Stay Area within the Emergency & Trauma Centre, specifically tailored to enable delivery of enhanced assessment, treatment planning and therapeutic interventions. This environment is designed for safe observation and care of individuals requiring psychiatric and/or alcohol or other drug intervention or response to an otherwise undifferentiated behaviour of concern with a focus on brief interventions. It may also be used as an observation and management area for appropriate medical patients.

3. Prevention and Recovery Care Unit (PARC): is a 10-bed unit which is managed and delivered in collaboration with Mental Illness Fellowship and provides a safe home like environment. PARC provides care and support to people during early stages of relapse (step-up) or immediately post discharge from hospital (step-down)

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Successful candidates will be on a 12-month contract working as a Registered Graduate Nurse at one of the clinical areas listed below with opportunities for rotations exploring other clinical areas, acute or community clinical setting, within Alfred Mental and Addiction Health. Each candidate will receive structured support from a dedicated preceptor, Clinical Nurse Educators, Clinical Nurse Consultants, and Graduate Program Manager throughout their graduate year whilst they develop their career as a Mental Health Nurse

ABOUT YOU

Are you someone who wants to make a difference to help create a new type of service with young people and their families?

We’ll need you to have the following:

  • Current unrestricted registration with AHPRA as a Nurse Division 1
  • Knowledge of principles and applications of the Mental Health Act (2014)
  • Australian working rights
  • Current Victorian Driver’s License
  • Current Working with Children Check & be willing to undergo a Background Check
