Lab Technician

  • Pay Rate: $21/hour
  • Shifts Available: Relief Shift – Monday & Tuesday – 3pm-11pm, Wednesday & Thursday 11pm-7am, Sunday 7am-3pm (off Fridays and Most Saturdays, would work 7am-3pm if it were their Saturday.)
  • Temporary Contract position with Raise with potential for perm hire with ADM
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check is required.

Raise has partnered with ADM, and they are seeking to hire a Lab Technician in Decatur, Illinois.

Job Summary:

The Lab Technician - Entry Level/I performs laboratory analysis on in-process and finished product samples to determine quality and purity. Responsibilities include gathering sample retains and communicating with different departments via email and Microsoft Teams.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Follow all safety and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP requirements.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with safety, food safety, environmental, and GMP regulations.
  • Perform all required lab tests according to documented procedures.
  • Demonstrate ADM core values: Integrity, Respect, Excellence, Resourcefulness, Teamwork, and Responsibility.
  • Ensure prompt attendance and adhere to the assigned work schedule.
  • Utilize a team-oriented approach, good communication skills, and the ability to work independently.
  • Conduct physical testing of production samples.
  • Perform daily verification of lab instruments.
  • Record, interpret, and enter test results using a computerized data system.
  • Maintain samples of tested products for confirmation of test results when necessary.
  • Manage and reorder lab supplies as needed.
  • Compare test results with standards to ensure products are within specification.
  • Handle chemicals according to Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Communicate with Operations, Merchandisers, and Quality on product issues.

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required, Associates in applied science preferred.
  • Basic arithmetic skills and proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and stay organized.
  • Team player with a willingness to learn.
  • Regular and prompt attendance is mandatory.
  • Must be able to follow instructions and multi-task.
  • Basic computer skills including MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, OneNote) and instrument-specific software.
  • Ability to handle dangerous chemicals safely and follow company safety procedures.
  • Capable of working in confined spaces, from heights, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, and lifting 50 lbs repeatedly.
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs repeatedly (e.g., moving a gas cylinder).
  • Must work in various conditions including confined spaces and heights.
