PERMANENT PART TIME - 40 HOURS PER FORTNIGHT

Alexandra District Health is looking for a skilled and passionate Cook or an individual with an interest in becoming a Cook, to lead our catering team and ensure patients, staff, and contract clients receive excellent food, every day.

The role is permanent part-time 40 hours per fortnight with the possibility for the right applicant to pick up additional hours in other roles. 

You'll take charge of daily food service operations, supervise catering assistants, and uphold strict food safety standards — all while bringing creativity and care to menu planning in collaboration with our Dietitian and Speech Pathologist.

About the role:

The Cook will:

  • Coordinate the daily tasks within catering services under the direction of the Support Services Manager
  • Complies with the Standard Operating Procedures and Support Programs of the Food Safety Plan (FSP) at all times
  • Ensure that all food prepared, cooked and supplied is of the highest possible standard
  • Prepare, present and delivery of food in accordance with the FSP
  • Accurately document food preparation, hygiene and delivery in accordance with the FSP and Alexandra District Health (ADH) Policies and Procedures
  • Ensures compliance with regulations under the Food Safety Act.
  • Demonstrate a sound knowledge and the application of principles and supervision of staff in line with the FSP
  • Work collaboratively within the team
  • Provide supervision, direction and support for the Support Services Assistants – catering
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of dietary requirements and participate in menu and recipe development, maintenance and implementation in liaison with the Support Services Manager, Dietitian and Speech Pathologist.
  • Ensure cost effective management for the provision of catering services
  • Is responsible for completing meal preparation efficiently as per schedule
  • Maintain Food Safety Records including daily and monthly temperature process logs
  • Ensure the correct use and storage of all chemicals and products is in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines
  • Report and assist in the follow up of patient feedback
  • Maintain confidentiality of staff, patients and visitors
  • Communicate appropriately with staff, patients, relatives and visitors.
