The role

Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in leading the charge towards safe, efficient, and environmentally sustainable cement production? Look no further!

We're seeking an exceptional Operations Manager to spearhead our Birkenhead site into a new era of excellence while establishing and maintaining the management cadence and operating systems for the site.

As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of our Birkenhead site, including clinker and cement production, raw material sourcing, packaging, dispatch, and shipping operations. You will lead a team dedicated to achieving production, quality, efficiency, and cost targets while upholding the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance.

 This is a permanent, full time opportunity based in Birkenhead, SA

Responsibilities

  • Champion Safety: Lead by example in adhering to Adbri Standards and regulatory compliance, fostering a culture of effective and unwavering safety leadership.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Spearhead initiatives to enhance safety performance and operational efficiency, relentlessly pursuing opportunities for advancement.
  • Optimise Operations: Identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising product quality or operational excellence.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: Cultivate a team culture centred around delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Utilise Statistical Process Control: Lead the application of Statistical Process Control to monitor and enhance product quality, process efficiency, and overall performance.
  • Strategic Cost Management: Proactively manage budgets, identifying and implementing opportunities for cost reductions and efficiency enhancements.
  • Ensure Compliance: Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, Adbri standards, and industry best practices, ensuring the highest level of integrity and accountability.
  • Establish and Maintain Management Cadence: Develop and maintain effective management cadence and operating systems to ensure smooth and efficient site operations.

 

What you will need to succeed

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of management experience in heavy industrial plant operations, ideally within the cement manufacturing industry.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering operational targets, managing budgets, and driving process improvements.
  • Strong understanding of asset management, reliability strategies, and maintenance practices.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and budget management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a keen focus on operational efficiency.
