The role

As part of the diverse and inclusive Maintenance Team at Birkenhead Site Operations, a role exists for an enthusiastic, flexible, and motivated person to fill the role of Electrical Maintenance Supervisor.

As well a good leadership and problem-solving skills, the individual needs to be able to be creative and adapt to the ever-changing needs of the production plan. Good communication skills are essential to this role to ensure departmental collaboration is achieved at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Safety
  • Lead the team in the maintenance of a safe and productive work environment by ensuring the development and implementation of safe work practices/ procedures that meet statutory and company requirements.
  • Conduct Critical Risk Verifications, workplace inspections and safety audits.
  • Developing safety related documentation
  • Ensure company safety standards are met while coaching and mentoring employees and contractors to eliminate injuries and incidents.
  • Regularly review workplace safety performance and execute corrective measures.
  • Participate in incident investigations.


  • Maintenance life cycle and asset integrity
  • Contribute to the planning process that enables production and processing optimisation.
  • Work closely with the Process and Maintenance Supervisors to ensure the process plant and facilities are available so that key resources and assets are effectively utilised and optimised.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted to achieve lowest cost production.
  • Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • o   Management of all electrical execution activities so that they are carried out in a cost-effective and safe manner.


  • Managing People
  • Manage electrical personnel to ensure the effective maintenance of plant and ancillaries so that business targets and goals are achieved to maximum effect.
  • Lead the training and development of team members through following up on needs identified and competency profiles developed for all roles.
  • Proactively contribute to team development through active participation in the performance management system.

 

What you will need to succeed

  •  Experience in heavy industry or mining essential within a Supervisory role.
  • Electrical Trade Qualification.
  • HV Switching Certification.
  • Electrical Instrumentation Certification desirable
  • Frontline management or equivalent desirable
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, P&ID's and other engineering drawings.
  • Sound understanding of Fixed Plant maintenance principals and their application in practice.
  • SCADA experience desirable.
  • Good level of knowledge in computer literacy, in particular SAP and MS Office.
  • Ability to plan and or anticipate likely scenarios as related to all key responsibility areas.
  • Able to effectively allocate resources to achieve business requirements.
  • Effective time management and good communication skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
  • PLC Diagnostic experience essential
  • PLC Programming experience desirable
  • Availability for engineering support call-out roster
