Leading Hand Operator (Forklift)

The role

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Leading Hand Operator - Forklift, with the drive to learn the operations of our business. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement and despatch of masonry products. 

A key element to this position is working together as an integral member of the Sandgate Masonry distribution team.

This full-time permanent role will require flexibility to work varying start times.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety, health and environment standards are maintained
• Follow correct work procedures at all times
• Operation of forklifts for the movement of goods to/from the work area
• Quality Assurance and packaging of outgoing goods
• Ensure yard and inventory is maintained in a neat and orderly fashion
• Following established procedures for documenting and/or reporting work performed, hazards, incidents
• General labouring duties
• Basic maintenance of forklifts, plant and equipment in the work area

What you will need to succeed

• Self motivation and a willingness to learn
• Ability to communicate confidently with various staff
• Ensure safety, health and environment standards are maintained
• Load and unload trucks safely and accurately
• Move palletised masonry products within the factory and yard
• Complete basic documentation associated with the dispatch of orders
• Make up orders using appropriate manual handling techniques
• Undertake general housekeeping and cleaning
