The role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Production Manager to become an integral member of the Birkenhead Cement Works Operations team in South Australia.

The Production Manager is accountable for the safe, cost-effective operation of the Birkenhead production assets to meet production and quality targets including kiln clinker production, refractory management, cement milling, product packaging and dispatch, raw materials handling, processing, and blending, product truck and ship loading.

You will lead a team of Production Supervisors, continuous shift operators, day operators and Process Engineers to drive product quality, production output, efficiencies and reduce cost through a focus on safety, environment, and regulatory compliance at Adbri’s largest facility.

 This is a permanent, full time opportunity based Birkenhead, SA

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Adbri Standards and regulatory compliance, yourself & the team Effective and unwavering safety leadership
  • Champion safety culture by role modelling and actively sponsoring initiatives
  • Hold leaders and suppliers to account for delivering short-term and longer-term results for customers/clients.
  • Act with integrity and foster strong relationships with customers/clients
  • Prioritisation and allocation of resources to meet the daily Production Plan
  • Leadership of the site daily Operations Meeting
  • Ensuring the communication, visibility and monitoring of process control standards
  • Ensuring standard operating routines and tasks are monitored and maintained
  • Ensure plant targets and objectives regarding safety, quality, production and costs are achieved
  • Ongoing optimisation of kiln and cement mill operations to reduce variability, increase output, improve efficiency and reduce costs.

 

What you will need to succeed

  • Tertiary qualifications in process engineering (Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering)
  • 10-years leadership experience in heavy manufacturing or processing plant
  • More than 5 years’ experience in an integrated cement plant (clinker and cement)
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, maintaining, and improving operating standards within a continuous process environment
  • Good financial knowledge with post graduate qualifications in business or finance desirable
  • Excellent statistical analysis knowledge and skills
