Operations Manager

The Role:

We're seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our cement manufacturing operation at Angaston, South Australia. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer Cement, you'll be responsible for the operational performance of the plant – from safety and environmental compliance through to production, maintenance and process engineering, quality management, cost management, and team leadership. You'll play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and collaboration across the site.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead and develop a high-performing operations team, building capability and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
• Oversee production operations to ensure consistent delivery of quality cement products that meet customer requirements
• Manage asset performance, reliability and maintenance strategies to maximise plant availability and efficiency
• Champion a proactive safety culture and ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements
• Drive operational efficiency and identify opportunities to improve safety, productivity, quality and cost performance
• Manage operational budgets and deliver against financial and performance targets
• Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders across technical, commercial, engineering and corporate functions
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven decision making and operational insights
• Support capital project planning and delivery to enhance operational capability

About You:

You're an experienced operations leader with a strong track record in heavy industry, manufacturing, processing, mining, cement or related industrial operations. You combine technical knowledge with exceptional people leadership skills and a genuine commitment to safety and operational excellence. You’ll bring:

• Proven experience managing operational performance including safety, production, quality, cost and asset reliability in heavy industry or manufacturing environments
• Strong leadership experience with demonstrated ability to build, develop and lead high-performing teams
• Sound understanding of asset management, maintenance strategies and plant reliability principles
• Financial and commercial acumen with experience managing operational budgets
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills
• Strong problem-solving ability and data-driven decision-making capability
• Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence
• Degree in Engineering, Technical, Manufacturing or equivalent qualification
