Are you an experienced investigator with a passion for improving workplace safety outcomes?
We're looking for a Safety Business Partner (Investigations) to join our Safety Operations team and play a critical role in strengthening our safety culture through high-quality investigations, coaching, and business partnering.
In this role, you'll use your investigative expertise to identify root causes, uncover contributing factors, and drive meaningful safety improvements across the business. Working closely with leaders and operational teams, you'll provide specialist advice, build capability, and help shape a proactive safety culture where learning, accountability, and continuous improvement lead to safer outcomes for our people, customers, and community
About the role
Reporting to the Manager Safety Operations, you will support the delivery of Work Health and Safety (WHS) strategic objectives, compliance requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
As a trusted safety partner, you will:
- Lead and support incident investigations, producing high-quality reports that identify root causes and contributing factors and recommend effective corrective actions.
- Provide subject matter expertise on investigation methodologies, processes, and best practice.
- Facilitate investigation workshops, training, and capability-building programs for leaders and employees.
- Conduct audits, inspections, field safety observations, and coaching activities.
- Partner with operational teams to improve safety performance and embed safe work practices.
- Monitor incident reporting and investigation processes to ensure incidents are appropriately categorised and investigated.
- Track and support the completion of actions arising from investigations, audits, and inspections to address identified risks and root causes.
- Contribute to the development of safety procedures, communications, and reporting.
About you
You are a credible safety professional with strong investigative skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. You combine analytical thinking with excellent communication skills and have a genuine commitment to creating safer workplaces.
To be successful, you will bring:
- Investigation qualifications and/or extensive experience conducting workplace health and safety or similar investigations.
- Demonstrated ability to identify root causes and deliver factual, evidence-based investigation outcomes.
- At least two years' experience in a similar role.
- A Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, or a willingness to obtain one.
- Strong report-writing, communication, consultation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to coach, influence, and build capability across diverse teams.
Desirable
- Diploma of Work Health and Safety.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
- Experience developing and delivering training programs and workshops.
- Project management experience or qualifications.
- Experience within utilities, energy, or other high-risk operational environments.
- Electrical trade qualifications and/or authorised worker experience
