ActewAGL Joint Venture is seeking a highly experienced economic regulatory leader with deep expertise in regulatory pricing, financial modelling, and economic regulation to join the Economic Regulation leadership team as Group Manager Regulatory Pricing and Analysis.
This is a senior role with direct influence on regulatory strategy, business performance, and long-term value creation across our regulated energy network and retail businesses in the ACT and surrounding NSW.

About the role
Reporting to the General Manager Economic Regulation, you will provide expert regulatory pricing, financial and strategic advice to the Senior Executive Team and the Joint Venture Board. You will lead a team responsible for the development and application of regulatory pricing models and financial analysis to support annual pricing, five yearly regulatory reviews, regulatory policy and broader business improvement initiatives.
You will play a critical role in shaping the network and retail businesses regulatory strategies, building trusted relationships with regulators and stakeholders, and leading a high performing team.
A day in the life
- Support the General Manager in the overall leadership and management of the Economic Regulation Division. You will lead, develop, and support the Economic Regulation team, fostering a safe, inclusive, and high performing environment that encourages capability growth and collaboration.
- Lead a high performing team responsible for annual gas and electricity regulatory pricing submissions, regulatory modelling, analysis and strategy development for elements of the five-year regulatory determinations.
- Lead the development of tariff structures and pricing strategies, including for cost recovery of jurisdictional schemes.
- Lead the provision of expert advice on regulatory finance matters, including incentive schemes, economic benchmarking, regulatory depreciation, rates of return, and scenario modelling.
- Lead and oversee the preparation of relevant regulatory policy submissions, advocacy activities, and engagement with regulators and governments.
- Build and maintaining strong, effective relationships with regulators, executives, and the Joint Venture Board.
Throughout all responsibilities, you will ensure compliance with all legislative, regulatory, and safety obligations, while role modelling the Joint Venture’s commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and future focused leadership.
About You
You will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Economics, Law, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline
- Strong understanding of energy regulation, microeconomic theory and regulatory frameworks
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining sophisticated regulatory pricing models
- Strong experience interpreting regulatory frameworks
- Highly effective communication and leadership skills
- Proven experience presenting regulatory strategy and advice to senior internal and external stakeholders
- Strong stakeholder engagement capability across regulatory, legal, economic and technical environments
- Experience working in complex, multidisciplinary settings.
