ActewAGL is seeking an experienced and strategic Group Manager Procurement to lead our Procurement, Warehouse and Purchasing functions across the ActewAGL Joint Venture. This is a critical leadership role that shapes procurement strategy, drives operational excellence, and delivers value for money outcomes for the business.
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will provide high level leadership and oversight of sourcing, contract management, purchasing, inventory and warehouse operations. You’ll work closely with Executive and Senior leaders to understand business needs, uplift capability, and provide procurement solutions that enhance operational performance and support strategic objectives.
You’ll bring commercial acumen, strong judgement, and deep expertise across procurement and supply chain functions—while role modelling the organisation’s values and fostering a culture of safety, embracing improvement and innovation and working in partnership with the business and community to create sustainable long-term outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Provide organisational leadership of procurement, contract management, inventory and warehouse operations to align with strategic priorities.
- Act as a trusted advisor to Executives and Senior leaders, collaborating early to understand needs and codesign effective solutions.
- Implement strategic sourcing and category management to optimise safety, productivity, cost efficiency and supplier performance.
- Identify and manage procurement, supply chain and inventory risks, including obligations under the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act.
- Lead cost optimisation initiatives and deliver improved financial performance across the supply chain.
- Oversee supplier negotiations and contract execution, ensuring value and compliance throughout the contract lifecycle.
Operational Leadership
- Build and lead a high performing team focused on strong relationships, probity, integrity and procurement excellence.
- Influence decision making through sound commercial judgement and risk-based advice.
- Prepare and deliver clear recommendations, briefings and reports to the Executive and Senior leadership teams.
- Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes, systems and practices—including supplier portal adoption, self-service procurement and automation.
- Ensure warehouse operations maintain high levels of safety, compliance and control.
- Lead organisational compliance with the Modern Slavery Act, including risk identification, mitigation and reporting.
- Maintain procurement policies, procedures, templates and training materials to ensure accessibility, compliance and relevance.
- Provide regular reporting on procurement performance, inventory metrics, warehouse efficiency and value delivered.
- Role model ActewAGL’s core values and support staff growth, development and performance.
About you
Essential
- Tertiary or postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline, or extensive equivalent industry experience.
- Proven record in procurement management.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, fostering collaboration and performance.
- Strong commercial acumen, strategic planning capability and sound decision making skills.
- Demonstrated experience delivering commercial results through improved procurement practices.
- Proven project management expertise.
- Ability to represent the organisation confidently at senior levels.
