Assistant Accountant

  • Ongoing, Full-Time opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to develop their technical skills while gaining exposure to financial accounting, capital projects, reporting, and business operations. 

Reporting to the Financial Controller, Evoenergy, you will support month-end reporting activities, assist with project accounting and capitalisation processes, manage Capital in Progress (CIP) activities, and work closely with stakeholders across the business to ensure accurate financial records and reporting. 

What you'll be doing

  • Assisting with month-end accounting and financial reporting activities.
  • Preparing journals, accruals, prepayments, and financial analysis.
  • Supporting project closures, capitalisations, and asset retirements.
  • Monitoring Capital in Progress (CIP) balances and project status.
  • Assisting with project budget administration in Oracle.
  • Reviewing invoice coding and supporting accurate cost allocation.
  • Investigating system interface issues and supporting project creation activities.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or a related discipline.
  • 1 to 3 years' experience in an accounting role following graduation.
  • A desire to work towards, or be currently progressing, CA or CPA qualifications.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning.
  • The ability to build effective working relationships and communicate with a range of stakeholders.
