We’re seeking a Market Forecasting & Analytics Manager to provide specialist forecasting, modelling and analytical capability that underpins our wholesale energy strategy, regulatory obligations and retail pricing decisions.

Reporting to the Wholesale Energy Manager, this role sits at the intersection of wholesale markets, regulation and retail pricing, translating complex market dynamics into clear, decision ready insights. While the role does not have trading or contracting authority, it plays a critical role in influencing wholesale purchasing, pricing strategy and regulatory outcomes through the quality and robustness of its analysis.

What you’ll be responsible for

In this role, you will:

  • Develop, maintain and enhance electricity and gas load forecasts to support wholesale purchasing, pricing strategy and regulatory processes
  • Build and manage wholesale market and regulatory financial models, including hedge profile analysis, wholesale exposure modelling, load shape premium impacts, and scenario and sensitivity testing
  • Deliver market scenario analysis to assess the impact of market conditions, policy changes and regulatory outcomes on cost, risk and pricing
  • Provide modelling and analytical support for regulatory submissions and determinations, including wholesale energy cost allowance modelling and supporting documentation
  • Translate complex modelling outputs into clear commercial insights to inform retail pricing strategy, feed in tariffs, discounts and product design
  • Monitor wholesale market trends, regulatory developments and policy changes, assessing impacts through structured forecasting and modelling
  • Ensure forecasting models, methodologies and assumptions are transparent, well documented, auditable and governance aligned

For a complete overview of the role and responsibilities, please refer to the attached Position Description.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be a commercially minded analyst with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in economics, engineering, finance, mathematics or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience in forecasting and financial modelling, preferably within electricity and/or gas markets
  • Strong understanding of wholesale energy markets, hedging instruments and the interaction between wholesale outcomes, retail pricing and regulation
  • Experience supporting regulatory modelling or submissions, including wholesale cost allowance forecasting
  • Advanced capability in complex Excel based financial models, with exposure to automation or advanced analytics
  • The ability to communicate complex technical analysis clearly to non-technical stakeholders
