About the Role: As a Student Wellbeing Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting student welfare, engagement, and success. You will provide guidance, resources, and intervention strategies to enhance students' overall wellbeing, including mental health support, crisis management, and referral services. Collaborating with academic and professional staff, you will ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and support a safe and healthy environment for students.
  • Provide direct support and guidance to students facing personal, academic, or social difficulties.
  • Develop and implement wellbeing initiatives to empower students.
  • Conduct one-on-one wellbeing consultations and provide appropriate referrals.
  • Act as a first point of contact for students in distress.
  • Support students with disabilities or additional learning needs.
  • Facilitate and support the Student Representative Council.
  • Serve as the SASH (Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment) point of contact.
  • Develop and analyse student wellbeing projections to address future needs.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance student support.

About You: You hold a tertiary qualification in psychology, social work, counselling, community services, or a related field. You have knowledge of student wellbeing issues, mental health first aid, and crisis intervention strategies. Your excellent communication, interpersonal, and case management skills, along with your ability to build relationships with students from diverse backgrounds, make you an ideal candidate for this role. You can work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, and you have strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
