Remote Area Management Team Member
- Roles available across remote NT, QLD, WA, NSW and SA.
- $42.65 per hour (inclusive of 25% casual loading), plus superannuation.
- Temporary (casual) positions with variable working hours, including days, evenings, and weekends.

About the role
Working closely with their team leader, the Remote Area Management Team Member helps make sure that Census information is collected in remote areas of Australia, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, regional towns, farming properties, mining camps, roadhouses, and national parks. This includes engagement activities to promote participation in the Census from remote communities.
We are seeking Remote Area Management Team Members with experience working as part of a team and the ability to use electronic devices such as mobile phones and tablets.
As Remote Area Management Team Member, you will:
- Engage with members of the community to raise awareness of the Census.
- Provide support to the Team Leader as needed.
- Assist the Team Leader to recruit and train Community Field Officers in various locations including remote towns, farming properties, roadhouses, caravan parks, hotels and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Conduct interviews and deliver Census forms to dwellings.
- Use tools such as maps and mobile apps to allocate work and report on progress.
- Undertake quality assurance processes including reviews of forms with the help of field staff.
- Securely manage all recruitment, payroll, WHS, and Census forms.
- Ensure the security of all electronic devices.
- Return completed forms to the ABS.
This role requires you to have an understanding of, and ability to communicate with, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.

- Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
- Experience working within a small team and following instructions and procedures.
- Capability to work independently and apply training and procedures.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience working in remote and regional areas of Australia.
- Ability to read and navigate maps.
- Attention to detail when working in high volume environments with tight deadlines.
- Ability to use electronic devices such as mobile phones and tablets.
