A.B. Paterson College is seeking an experienced educator and dynamic leader to join our team as Head of House. This full-time, permanent role commencing Term 1, 2026, offers the opportunity to shape student wellbeing, academic success, and house spirit through exceptional pastoral care and leadership.

You will mentor student leaders, foster a positive and inclusive culture, and collaborate with staff and families to support every student’s journey. If you are passionate about education, committed to excellence, and ready to inspire the next generation, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Pastoral Care & Behaviour Management: Provide guidance and support to students, counsel on wellbeing, and implement behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive learning environment.
  2. Academic Oversight: Monitor student progress, liaise with teachers and parents, and support students at academic risk to achieve their best outcomes.
  3. Community & House Spirit: Organise and promote House sporting, cultural, and community service activities, fostering teamwork and engagement.
  4. Induction & Orientation: Welcome new students and families, assist with subject choices, and ensure smooth integration into College life.
  5. Leadership Development: Mentor House Captains and student leaders, encouraging strong leadership skills and active participation in College life.

  • Someone who embraces innovation and continuous improvement in pastoral and teaching practices.
  • A strong understanding of the Australian Curriculum and QCAA requirements for Years 7–12.
  • Up-to-date skills in the use of IT systems and digital tools for administration and communication.
  • Current CPR and First Aid training, or willingness to obtain.
  • Current Teacher Registration with QCT is essential.
