Commencing Term 1 2026 - Season 1

We are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic APS Sports Coach to join A.B. Paterson College within our Co‑Curricular Sport Program, commencing the beginning of February 2026. This casual/seasonal position plays an important role in supporting the College’s Co‑Curricular offerings and contributes to the success of our vibrant and active school community.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  1. Deliver fun, engaging and structured training sessions for APS Interschool Sport, school sport competitions, and relevant club sports (Football, Netball, Rugby or Volleyball).
  2. Coach and support students during weekly fixtures, including weekend commitments.
  3. Work collaboratively each week with the Head of Co‑Curricular Sport, Heads/Coordinators of Individual Sports, and supervising teachers to help each team grow and develop.
  4. Referee APS games as required, ensuring a positive and safe sporting environment.
  5. Contribute positively to the overall goals and success of the College’s Co‑Curricular Sport Program

What We’re Looking For:

  • Coaching experience in Football, Netball, Rugby or Volleyball, ideally within a school or community sporting environment.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging training sessions that build skills, teamwork and confidence in young athletes.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills to work effectively with students, staff, parents and sport coordinators.
  • A positive, team‑focused attitude, contributing to the culture and values of the College’s Co‑Curricular Sport Program.
  • Reliability and good time‑management, with the ability to meet weekly training, fixture and weekend commitments.
  • Confidence to referee APS games, ensuring fair play and a safe, supportive sporting environment.
  • Basic digital competency for schedules, attendance, communication and session planning.
  • Current CPR and First Aid training, or willingness to obtain
  • Current Blue Card, Working With Children Check is a requirement of this position
